If you would like to enable backup, you will need a second drive with equal to or larger capacity than your primary drive. If the drive you connect as a backup drive is of lesser capacity than your primary drive, the option to use that drive as backup will not be presented.

  1. Connect a drive formatted with FAT32, NTFS, or HFS+ to one of the USB ports in the back. The port number does not matter, as the primary and backup drives are assigned in software, regardless of port numbers. Please note that mounting a new drive may take a long time especially if it was not previously ejected properly.
  2. When the Monument App asks you whether you want to use this for backup, select Use as Backup.
  3. You do not need to keep your App open. Your Monument will take over from here.
  4. If you wish, you can see how much of the backup is complete through the App, and using the Settings / USB Drives, and looking at the backup drive's banner.
